I’ve always wanted to own a kick-ass pair of boots.
Last night, my dad and I were people-watching in Eastwood to while away the time when I spotted a girl wearing a long-sleeved black shirt with a light gray above-the-knee skirt and knee-length shiny black boots with some fringe.
“Dad, tignan mo porma niya, type ko,” I said, nudging him so he could see her before she disappeared from sight. He looked at her from head to toe.
His verdict about her style?
“Kulang na lang kabayo.”
POOF! There goes my desire to own a pair (for now)!

It’s funny how the wheels have turned.
Throughout history, African Americans have been tortured, ridiculed and discriminated against because of the color of their skin but now a black man has been elected to the highest position of what is arguably the most powerful nation and all its citizens are counting on him to make their lives better and to bring back honor to the country.
As Barack Obama prepares himself for the presidency, he carries not just the hopes of a nation but the dreams of generations of his race who have waited and wondered if change would ever come.
Yes, it can.
Yes, it did.

Girl #1: Oh aren’t you excited to see me?
Girl #2: Excited?
I’m so witty
Girl #2: Ano ba talagang pakay mo? I’m sure hindi naman ang kapakanan ng dental industry ang pinunta mo dito di ba? Business? Monkey business?
Girl #1: Oo, at napaka disenteng monkey business. Politics.
Iba. Iba talaga. It keeps getting better!
Much has been said and written about the one who got away but what about the one who let the person slip away and the one who must live each day filled with regretful thoughts over what could have been? Isn’t his plight worthy enough of haikus, songs, or metered sonnets? Or is idiocy not to be immortalized? Hmm..on second thought, “the one who let THE one get away” is more of a mouthful than “the one who got away.”

I am Mii.
I am not athletic but in the world of Wii, I am a pro in tennis, baseball, bowling AND boxing.
I am Mii.
I fish and shoot balloons, birds and aliens with one hand and with one eye closed. I ride a cow, jump over hurdles, and run into scarecrows. I pick out a familiar face in a crowd of strangers. I drive a tank into battle.
In one day, I can be a hunter, an athlete, a fisherman or a sharpshooter. I can choose who I want to be but at the end of the day, I am just Mii.
**I joined a contest to win a Wii party for me and my friends. :)
I have a confession to make: I like Jacob more than Edward.
Out of all the Twilight fans I’ve talked with, I’ve yet to meet someone who shares my sentiments. Without exception, they have been dazzled by Edward: his knack of saying the right thing at the right time, his literal I-will-die-without-you love for Bella, his fierce protectiveness of her, his infinite patience and control.
Who didn’t swoon when Bella found out that he stayed with her all night just to watch her sleep? Who didn’t sigh with envy when he played his Bella-inspired lullaby to welcome her home? Who didn’t love him all the more when he forgave Bella for her transgressions and welcomed Jacob because he knew that she would not be completely happy without him? Who didn’t shed a tear or two when he confessed that he left only because he truly believed that it would be for her own good but that he knew in his heart that he wouldn’t be able to stay away for long?
There is no doubt that Edward is perfect…that he is perfection without even trying.
While Edward has the uncanny ability to read minds, Jacob blurts out what’s on his mind. He doesn’t see the point of sugarcoating reality and will tell the truth even if it hurts. He has the tendency to be a bit selfish and cocky. He is brutishly strong yet runs away from emotional pain; he is logical yet not above being reckless. He is impudent, immature and impulsive–everything that Edward is clearly not.
I’m sure you know a Jacob–a hopelessly lovestruck fool who refuses to take no for an answer and who tries, persistently, to win the object of his affection over and over; someone who can’t stay away even if it hurts. Maybe the reason why Jacob has little fans is he reminds us a little too much of ourselves.
Jacob, in his imperfection, is real.
And Edward? Edward is the mark of good fiction.

You gotta love Filipino teleseryes for its dialogue.
Girl #1: Dumi ka lang.
Girl #2: Balang araw, ang duming ito ang makakapuwing sa iyo.
Girl #1: E di magsha-shades ako.
Winner!
It’s crazy how many options one has these days when dining out. There’s a choice between rice, mashed potatoes or bread; french fries or onion rings; upsize or not; softdrinks, iced tea or juice; rare, medium well or well done; side dishes which can be either buttered veggies, baked potatoes, mac and cheese, rice (java, garlic or plain?), coleslaw or cheese and garlic potatoes. Sometimes it gets to be quite a chore to order because there are so many factors to consider!
Yesterday, I had lunch in Kenny Roger’s. I originally wanted the baby back ribs but my gosh, it’s so expensive now! I settled for the chicken meal instead. “Fried or roasted?” the cashier asked in a bored voice.
“Uh..ano pong kaibahan?”
I thought she was going to expound about the differences in marinade, or that one was healthier than the other, but she just looked at me with pity, rolled her eyes and said with a “What-did-i-do-to-deserve-such-loopid-customers” tone, “Yung fried, deep fried. Yung roasted, ni-roast.”
Oh. Oo nga naman! Self-explanatory nga naman! Gosh it’s good to learn something new everyday!
